| Want List |
[16 Aug 2008|12:03am] |
This was transfered over from my blog (This is to Say) http://thisistosay.blogspot.com/
I also have a My Library Thing (A list of books I own and read) http://www.librarything.com/catalog/neverwondernights
Sorry for the font, I don't know how to change it and it's what is used on Blogger.
((Michael, I figure you'd want this. Ever year or so, I list all the books I want on lj. Just... Because. The list will more than likely change more often on LibraryThing and This is to Say, just because I really like how those sites work. Also I feel compelled to fiddle with them more because no one looks at them.
Also, if you go to the Masterpiece Theatre link in my blog, I reviewed, sort of, Shadow Hearts: Covenant. It's also in Ovarian Analog, which you have to click on my profile to get to. Ovarian Analog is sort of a stupid gaming blog. And if you were wondering, Kitchen Stadium is sort of a place where I (used to) muse on a comic idea.
Ah, and as for novels go, I more than often want them in hardback, sorry. I think the 3rd Dexter, Dexter in the Dark, is the only one that I want in softback and have apparently left it out of my list. Oops?))

| Headaches |
[16 Aug 2008|01:15am] |
I have a headache, still. Yea, this is a whiny post! I got a headache from a monitor I'm using (my laptop broke and I have to use a different desktop than I'm used to; mine is elsewhere). The monitor was set to refresh at 75hz, and when my dad went to fix it (as I didn't know how, usually all my monitors are set at 60hz), he thought it was really weird that 75hz gives me a headache while 60hz does not. I think the lower refresh rate is nice because you can see it refreshing because it's not fast enough to be a subconscious thing. The flicking of the monitor doesn't really bother me, so long as it's slow enough to not have a strobe light effect. (A reason why I loathe raves, really. Strobe lights, horribly loud music, a ridiculous crowd, and a horrible scent. That and I don't like dancing.) But as my dad was fixing the monitor, I tried to lie down on the couch, but ended up slamming my head on to the very thick and hard arm. I forgot that the couch was a two-seater. There have only been three times I have ever cried from a headache. This was the 3rd least painful. The 2nd was when a doctor messed up the pressure in my ears by sticking that ear thing in too far and compressed the ear wax. Later that day, when I went to TRY to sleep, some workers were fiddling with the fire alarm (not a drill/fire) and as I tried to get some aspirin from the RA, the alarm blared into my ears. The RA, I think, thought I was on drugs or drunk (as most college students are) until the alarm-crying thing. Then it sort of dawned on her that, maybe, it's an actual migraine. (I figured trying to explain pressure and how ears work was too above her, really. I wouldn't have been able to explain it well enough.)
The third one? I have no clue if it was even real. I... don't know? Sounds a little odd, I guess. (I have a few memories that I'm still not sure if they were a fabrication from a dream or not.) All I remember was crying, screaming, and writhing around on a couch. I was at my maternal grandparents' house, and I guess they didn't do anything? It was the worst pain I've been in (that's heavily oppressing; it's a flip of a coin between coccydinia and this, depending on what we're talking about) and I have no clue what started it or how it went away. Ergo, I can't tell if it's real or not. I don't know how old I was and it's a little weird to go around asking people if something happened or not. All I remember is the blue couch and a painting of a rough sea (I was trying to center, or de-center, my mind, to try and make the pain a little less).
It sort of reminds me of how I can't focus, sometimes, on something for too long. I don't mean attention, but rather eyesight. Sometimes I'll be writing or something, and it my eyesight crosses--gets all fuzzy, etc. I used to do it all the time, and if I was reading or writing, it sorta sucked. I've slowly forced my eyesight to NOT do that, but sometimes it's a little hard to have it not happen. If I pause in doing something, or reading, it happens (rarely). Sometimes once it happens, it's hard to stop it from constantly happening (as in a few minutes or so of blurred vision). Thankfully it's not like every time I glance down and look at my textbook or notes, I don't have to constantly force my eyesight back to normal. Although if I do, at times, consciously do it, it's a little hard to stop it from continuing. As no one has ever noticed my eyes actually going cross-eyed, I'm guessing it's the 'no eye movement' type of crossing your eyes. (Which, yes, you can do that. Let's just say I was skilled at those 3-D illusion photos.)
